This Pileated Woodpecker of Spring has survived the New England Winter and is welcoming the Spring warmth. The scrollwork says "The longer, colder, harder the winter, the more glorious, brilliant, miraculous the spring". I'm Ty Meier, the artist: My little family moved here to New Hampshire from California and had to learn to deal with the long, long winter. I'd never snow-blowed a driveway! The consolation prize for surviving the winter is that New England is as good as any tropical paradise in the spring.
